Drained Battery Problems?

On March 5, 2016 by Dwight

Your car battery can let you down at any time of year but during the cold winter season, several factors come together to hit your battery health hard. The batteries ability to charge and its power output drops at lower temperatures, so you’re taking more charge out but putting less in. Add to this the increased drain of blowers and lights etc. during the cold, dark months of winter and you much more likely to be hit by a breakdown.

To avoid getting caught out, make sure to switch off everything electrical before you switch off the ignition. Keep it switched off when you start up as well. If you only make short trips, you may want to invest in an intelligent charger to keep your battery topped up. Some car alarms can be set off as the battery voltage drops, so if your alarm is mysteriously sounding, it could be a sign of a drained battery.
